In short: we buy and sell used business laptops and desktops. We hold a small amount of personal data to do that: mostly work contact details of people we buy from or sell to. We don't sell your data, this website sets no cookies and runs no advertising trackers, and we never access the data on devices we buy. Every storage drive is erased before resale. If you'd rather we didn't contact you, say so and we'll stop.
Who we are
Cheshire Device Supply is the trading name of Joseph Walford, a sole trader based in Cheshire, UK. As the business owner, Joseph Walford is the controller of the personal data described here.

Data on devices we buy
Laptops and desktops we buy may still hold their previous owner's data. We do not open, copy, read or keep that data. Every storage drive is erased to the NIST SP 800-88 standard before a device is resold. A drive that fails erasure is physically destroyed. Business sellers can ask for an erasure record for each device.
Who we share data with
We never sell personal data. We share it only with the services we use to run the business, and only as far as each needs it:
- Microsoft (email and business software)
- Cloudflare (hosting, security and visitor statistics for this website)
- Marketplaces you buy through, such as eBay or Facebook Marketplace
- Couriers, to deliver or collect equipment
- Our accountant and HMRC, for tax records
- Police, courts or regulators, if the law requires it
International transfers
Some of these providers, such as Microsoft and Cloudflare, may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
This website
This website does not set cookies and does not use advertising or cross-site tracking tools.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not build a profile of you. It is switched off for visitors in the EU. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, also processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in running and securing the website.

You have the right to:

- have inaccurate data corrected
- have your data deleted, where we have no legal reason to keep it
- restrict how we use it
- object to our use of it. If you object to being contacted about buying equipment, we stop.
- receive data you gave us in a portable format, where this applies
To use any of these rights, email info@cheshiredevicesupply.co.uk. We reply within one month. It's free.
